Somerville boasts a central location in the leafy Jericho area of Oxford, only minutes from shops, pubs, supermarkets and many of the University's faculty buildings.

Faculties: Somerville is very close to the facutlies of Maths, Philosophy, Psychology, Engineering and Computer Science. Most of the University's Faculties are located within 10 minutes walk. With the University's new flagship project, the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, due to open next door in 2024, Somerville is becoming even closer to the heart of Oxford.

Libraries: Somerville is particularly close to the Sackler Library (classical, art historical, and archaeological works) and the Taylor Institute Library (languages), each a 7 minute walk. Within 15 minutes on foot you can access all of the University's major collections.

Supermarkets: There is a Co-op with a cash machine right on the corner of the College, making doing your shopping very convenient. We are also only 10 minutes' walk from one of the largest supermarkets in central Oxford.

Shops, Restaurants and Bars: With a gate opening directly onto trendy Little Clarendon Street, you will never have to walk far to access many of Oxford's best-loved bars and restaurants. Ice-cream shop George and Danver's is especially popular with our students (known as G&Ds) and just across from the College. We are 10 minutes walk from Oxford's main central shopping and restaurant streets and 15 minutes from the Westgate Shopping Centre.

Museums: We are one of the closest Colleges to the University's museums. The Pitt Rivers Museum and the Natural History Museum are only 6 minutes away, and a 10 minute walk will bring you to the Ashmolean.

Parks and Green Space: Somerville is located opposite the spacious University Parks. It is also one of the closest colleges to Port Meadow, a large meadow with beautiful views which is especially popular with students for barbeques and swimming in the River Isis during the warmer months.

Hospitals: The main teaching hospital and Oxford's A&E, the John Radcliffe Hospital, is 15 minutes away by bus and the stop is located virtually opposite the college on Keble Road. As cycling there instead involves tackling the steepest hill in Oxford, easy access to the bus is a relief to our medics!

Travel to London: Frequent coaches from the Oxford Tube and X90 services run from Gloucester Green, a 7 minute walk from Somerville. We are also situated an 11 minute walk from the Railway Station.
